I am not wanting to spend time fussing with new media players for a problem this phone has that the others I've used did not have. PowerAMP and MediaMonkey both were unaffected but Spotify worked with it. I tried Equalizer FX but in the 3 players I tried, only 1 was affected by the equalizer. Even at 50% (near the end of the video) the music is still audible from the headphones when they are sitting on the table, which would be an unacceptible volume level for the health of one's eardrums. That would be extremely painful on the ear. There is no block to prevent excessive volume, and as a result the maximum volume turns my over the hear headphones into tabletop speakers.

Here is a video I've uploaded demonstrating the loudness of the media volume. It would appear my problem is not the same as users who report low volume. I upgraded from an older Sony Xperia phone to the g5+, and this is the first phone with unusually loud volume for media. I have had no issues with media volume on the Galaxy S5, S6, or S8 (my work phones). "Or try a different music app as many sers say the phone olume is to low. When paired to the g5+ they control the android media playback volume. Unfortunately the only headphones I have with their own volume control are the beats solo 2, which are only used in bluetooth mode. " Try using volume controls on the headphones and see if they add any granularity, mine do.
